Frames of Reference

Lorangen and I were discussing the actions of a friend and whether they were ethical or not. I felt like she was excusing his actions because of the “different frames of reference/value set” excuse.

Maybe she was just trying to understand them. Well I understand them too! Sadly, just because you understand someone’s actions, doesn’t mean you agree with them. I learned that from JadedStaccato. She beat it into me.

Do you guys feel like a person should change for the sake of those they love? How about in small things like personality? Is it good that I am trying to be less cocky? Was it good that PrincelyViet tried to be less sarcastic? I think so–on both accounts.

IMHO I think all that stuff about accepting your friends’ faults is great, but that stuff about not having to change urself for anyone…that’s complete and utter bullshit. You don’t think you have to change for someone you love?

It’s different when one person thinks there’s something wrong with you…but when multiple people do…maybe you better make sure that you’re doing everything you need to be doing.

Of course, everything takes time…the first step though, is to acknowledge your problem.
